The Juice Generation

I woke up this morning from my usual recurring dream of an acai bowl, but today I was in New York City and my dreams were about to come true.

I went straight to Juice Generation to get a “picnic breakfast” to take to Central Park.

I ordered my favorite breakfast of all time, the PB Acai Bowl; Acai berries blended with almond milk, banana, and peanut butter, and topped with granola, sliced banana, a spoonful of peanut butter and cacao nibs.

The menu consists of mainly fresh juices, smoothies, and acai bowls. There is also a case with a variety of vegan, gluten-free snacks and treats, like muffins and cookies, and even some raw snacks.

Register counter with muffins in the case and stacks of fresh fruit in the background. Almost everything is labeled as “dairy-free,” “gluten-free,” or both, and many ingredients are local.

Then I headed over to Strawberry Fields in Central Park to enjoy my acai bowl in peaceful bliss.

It couldn’t have possibly been better than what I remembered. But somehow it was. Imagine a mouthful of subtly sweet acai berry smoothly blended with a swirl of peanut butter. Now imagine that topped with a perfectly ripe banana slice covered in peanut butter and coated in crunchy granola and cacao nibs.

PB Acai Bowl. I've been having recurring dreams about this baby ever since I left NYC last summer.
