There’s no better way to welcome the first serious cold snap of the season than by enjoying a hot cup of tea with sandwiches and desserts at a fancy, old-fashioned hotel in downtown Dallas, which is exactly my best friend and I did last weekend.
After stepping through the carousel door into The Adolphus Hotel lobby, we found ourselves walking into an ornately decorated dining room with low wooden ceilings, crystal chandeliers and elegant antique furniture. We sat down on a plush sofa and were poured a steaming hot cup of African amber tea, which had a fragrant and earthy aroma that instantly warmed our senses.
Following the African amber tea, we were served our first course. It was a lovely spread of small tea sandwiches, served with a choice of either orange jasmine or wild blackberry tea (I chose the wild blackberry tea).
The second course was a delicious, buttery, melt-in-your mouth scone with homemade strawberry jam and devonshire cream.
And finally, desserts. The caramel pear tea and vanilla bean tea were both so flavorful and aromatic. The best of the posh little desserts had to be the dark chocolate cup pastry, followed by the lemon-raspberry tart. Enjoyed with the tea, it was sugar, spice and everything nice.

I love the photos! While the food sounds great, the presentation is clearly just as important. Everything looks amazing. Tea at The Adolphus is definitely going on my “to-do” list for mental health days.

I love high tea and quaint little tea rooms! I will actually be attending Holiday Tea at the Adolphus next week and your description of the hotel, plus your pictures of your tea and delicious-looking courses, just made me really excited.

Great post, Mallory. The photos are well-composed and show just how delicious the Adolphus’ brunch can be. My question: how did you get reservations? From what I hear, it’s incredibly hard to get a table there and some days are filled a year in advance.

This is so cute! Where is this hotel located? This reminds me of being in London and all this cold weather definitely puts me in the mood for a little tea party! I’m always interested in finding new places like this in Dallas.
